Rick (R.V.) Romero

Artistic Director

As Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the company, R.V. writes and directs the vast majority of all Finis Productions. He has been instrumental in creating on-air advertising campaigns and informational videos for a variety of clients and organizations.

During the summer of 2001, R.V. wrote, starred, and directed his first feature length play, “The Best Men,” which enjoyed a successful run at the Phoenix Little Theatre while receiving honorable mention in the Scottsdale Tribune’s yearly revue for Best New Play.

The following year, R.V. co-created, wrote, directed, and co-starred in the internet-radio show “Out & About With Reuben Romero,” an inspirational radio program geared towards the disabled community to convey information regarding the many services and opportunities available.

In September of 2004, R.V. wrote and directed the provocative documentary/drama “A Critical Mass,” which received an LA MUSIC AWARD for best use of music in a documentary.

During the holiday season of 2005, R.V. wrote, directed, voiced, and illustrated “Tiny Tim’s Christmas Card” for the activist group, Healthcare Now. The endeavor was an artistic success, as well as an effective fund-raiser for the HCN organization. Early in 2006, Finis and R.V. followed up the Christmas production for HCN with the animated sensation “Don’t Be A Chicken,” which he also wrote, directed, and co-illustrated. This endeavor succeeded in presenting highly complicated subject matter in an upbeat, entertaining, and easy to understand manner.

In February of 2006, R.V. made his debut as the host of the original radio variety program “Reuben Romero’s Out & About,” on AM KFNX 1100. The radio variety show paid tribute to Reuben Romero, and continued to champion the rights and abilities of people with disabilities. After 14 programs on KFNX, “Reuben Romero’s Out and About” moved up the dial to 1480 KPHX. During the two whirlwind years the show aired on 1480, emphasis moved from being a talk show limited to discussion of disabilities with occasional scripted segments to being a full-time radio theatre sitcom.

R.V. authored 58 complete scripts for the hour long program while directing, hosting, and performing in all 85+ episodes. He also became the Artistic Director for “Exopolitics Radio with Alfred Webre,” a position which he still holds to this day.

R.V. has contributed as voice-over talent for 1480 KPHX commercials and clients, while also directing a number of on-air advertisements and promotions. He also filled in as “guest host” during live broadcasts of “the Jeff Farias Show,” hosted live remote broadcasts from various venues, and acted as an M.C. during a number of community events and functions.

During the summer of 2007, R.V. acted as a stump speaker for Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich. He also directed several videos for the campaign’s website and covered wife Elizabeth Kucinich’s “Southwestern Tour” during that time.

He is the author of four original screenplays, three feature length stage dramas, and a number of short stories and prose writings that are being compiled for publication. R.V. has interest and experience in graphic design, illustration, animation, visual arts, music composition/performance, stand-up comedy, dance, chess, writing, and modeling.

He has continued to pursue his interests as a musician (appearing as violin soloist on the upcoming “Estil Wallace album,” and making contributions to the Scottsdale Community College Orchestra as a 1st violin and piano soloist).

Currently, R.V. provides illustrations and updates for the “Out and About Radio” website (which is still catching up to the final eights episodes), and is said to be developing several new radio theatre projects for broadcast

R.V. also has plans to write, direct, and star in a new documentary entitled “Operation Endgame,” which will redefine the immigration argument in America. A theatre project known as “Fakespeare in the Park” is also rumored to be under development by the young hack as well.

Angela Bobst
